2009-2010: Essay Contest Winners
Mazel tov to our ESSAY CONTEST winners. We value writing at RGHDS, and we are pleased to announce that two of our students were chosen to be recognized for their outstanding essays. One contest was sponsored by the Rockland County Human Rights Office, and the County Executive and Commissioner on Human Rights opened the contest to middle schoolers all over the County. Our 7th grade student was chosen for her inspiring words in the "I Have A Dream" competition. She is being honored at the County Legislative Conference Center. Among distinguished guests, she will recite her essay aloud, so that " the audience can appreciate the wisdom of our children." Another winner, from the 8th grade, competed in the Rockland Holocaust Museum and Study Center's essay competition and wrote about pursuing what is right and humane in the face of adversity. Her wise words spoke volumes, and she, too, will be honored in a special ceremony for students.
