Spotlight: Author in Residence Program
The Danielle Hymowitz z'l Reading Center sponsored a wonderful Author-in-Residence Program for our entire school. Ann Koffsky presented to all our students, from N-3 through grade 8, about how she illustrates and writes books for children. She challenged everyone to conceive of how to communicate more poignantly, illustrate a point, and do the research necessary for being authentic and knowledgeable. Ann's books range from re-telling the Chanukah story to celebrating civic pride on July 4th. With inspiration from our beloved Danielle, of blessed memory, we commit to being writers and illustrators of our own books! At our school, every child becomes an author. Publishing parties and our Middle School literary journal keep our kids focused on gaining the essentials.
Thank you to Joyce Rogow, our school librarian, for coordinating this special program, and to the Saadon family for donating the framing for Danielle (z'l)'s published story
